I'm all about warm, cozy layers for fall. When I plan my layers, I always reach for a button-up or flannel first. Then, I search for a solid crew neck sweater to compliment my colorful coat. Right before I run out the door, I grab my beanie and satchel in neutral hues. It's already starting to get colder here in Pittsburgh, so I might be coat shopping earlier than I thought. Some of my favorites include this, this, and this.

Sweater: Forever 21  //  Blazer: H&M  //  Jeans: American Eagle  //  Hat & Heels: Target  //  Bag: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target  //  Jewels: Lucky Brand & Juicy Couture  //  Lipstick: NARS "Heat Wave"

More late nights at work mean boyfriend jeans and a baseball hat the next day. Even though this look is super casual, I can't help but feel a little chic with the leather cap and blazer paired together. When it comes to looking polished, yet comfy, I tend to pair a piece that is really casual with a more structured item. I'd love to hear how you "dress up" your casual pieces.

First off, TGIF! I don't know about you, but I am happy that it's Friday. After some long and late hours at work, I am ready to kick my feet up and relax. (And maybe do some online shopping.) I will be looking for some fabulous color block pieces, a hot trend for fall. Here are some of my favorite items... which one is your's?

Sweater: Old Navy  //  Chambray Shirt, Blazer, & Jeans: American Eagle  //  Bag: DKNY (on sale!)  //  Heels: Pour La Victoire  //  Sunglasses: Madewell  //  Watch: Kate Spade

I was one happy girl when I discovered that animal graphic sweaters were making a return again this season. I came across this sweater in a magazine and fell in love with the cute, silly fox. Fashion that has a sense of humor is my favorite. I also loved the cheeky graphic tee in this post and the sweatshirts here. Speaking of more fun sweatshirts and sweaters, Old Navy has some really amazing items for those fashionistas, like me, on a budget.

You know, there are just some colors that mesh well. Red and purple is one of those combinations. I put together some of my favorite pieces highlighting this combination. My favorite? Those totally unique boots! Also check out these (amazing) fashionistas who rocked red and purple together: here, here, and here

It finally started to feel like fall this weekend. The mornings were pretty chilly, pumpkin smells were filling the air, and most importantly fall decorations were being put up in my house. There is just something about this time of the year that I love. Maybe it's because this weather is perfect for fashion. Layers can be worn, but not underneath thick coats. I wore this layered look over the weekend. I love the contrast between hard and soft, feminine and masculine. And who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? I guess you could say I'm breaking all the fashion "rules."

Attending fashion week has always been a dream of mine. The runways, the incredible street style, and the New York lights sound totally dreamy and amazing. Although I didn't attend the one this week, I still took a peek at all the new styles and trends coming out for spring/summer 2014. Some of my favorites include stripes and florals together, statement sunnies, fringe details, and metallic shoes. My favorite shows were Karen Walker, Tory Burch, and Nicole Miller. I guess you could say that I love my colors and soft floral prints. Have you taken a look at any of the fashion from the last week; what were your favorites?

For those ladies who are always on the move, a sweatshirt is the perfect piece to look on trend and feel comfy. Tucked into a leather skirt or paired with boyfriend jeans, it is the best transitional item. I like to wear mine with a jeweled necklace to add that extra sparkle, just like Jules from Sincerely, Jules did with her statement swoon!

Top: J. Crew  //  Chambray Shirt: American Eagle  //  Skirt: H&M  //  Shoes: Wanted  //  Bag: DKNY  //  Sunglasses: House of Harlow 1960  //  Lipstick: NARS "Heat Wave"  //  Nail Polish: Revlon "All Fired Up"

I'm never one to turn down a good striped tee, especially one with a little sparkle. This J. Crew tee is my new favorite piece in my wardrobe. I love that I don't have to bother figuring out what necklace to wear with it, and it's the perfect top to dress up or down. I think I want to get it in every color. ;) If you loved something enough, would you buy it in every color?

Fall doesn't have to be about dull and dark colors. I like to switch things up and go for a bright sweater or scarf. Yesterday, I paired different colors together for a cool look. I wanted to find some more inspiration on bold color pairings to wear throughout the season. I found on Pinterest these pictures of fashionistas who really know how to rock their color for fall. Let me know what you think!

Sweater: Forever 21  //  Jacket: c/o American Eagle  //  Pants: American Eagle  //  Bag: DKNY  //  Oxfords: Dolce Vita  //  Jewels: Urban Outfitters, Stella & Dot, Michael Kors  //  Sunglasses: American Eagle

My favorite thing about fall is the rich colors. When it comes to a bold, raspberry colored leather jacket, count me in. Usually I find that colored leather jackets can look cheap, but I think this American Eagle one is perfect, especially with the quilted detail. I have a feeling this jacket will be on repeat, also paired with cream knit sweaters and black dresses.

Long gone are the days I wished for the newest Barbie doll or the colorful, sparkly dress from Children's Place. Honestly, I don't ask for anything for my birthday anymore. (other than a day spent with my family and friends) Now that I am older with a job, I can buy my own things whenever I want. That is, whenever my budget allows. I still think it's fun to make that dream list like I used to as a child. This time though, it consists of shoes and handbags. After all, who doesn't like a good handbag on their birthday? ;)

Well wishes and happiness on this long weekend. When Labor Day hits I know a new chapter begins, summer is almost over, and September has officially started. Whether you are preparing for back-to-school, enjoying the start of fall, or hanging with family and friends this Monday, I hope you have a little time to soak in some great weather and enjoy the last days of summer. Yesterday, I spent the day with the family eating yummy food and relaxing under lanterns at night. Although I am sad to see summer and the warmer weather go, I am ready for fall and looking forward to the upcoming months.

Dress: Old Navy  //  Jacket: American Eagle  //  Chambray: c/o American Eagle  //  Loafers: Dolce Vita  //  Sunglasses: American Eagle  //  Bag: DKNY  /  Lipstick: Clinique "Heftiest Hibiscus"  //  Jewels: Madewell, Stella & Dot, c/o American Eagle

I cannot believe that it will be September at the end of the week. Time really flies by, doesn't it? My fall school schedule is in full swing, the days are getting shorter, and the weather is starting to change. My closet is being rearranged and all the light coats and layers are slowly creeping to the front. I can't deny that fall is my favorite season, consisting of pumpkin lattes, knit sweaters, and changing leaves. What are you most looking forward to?

Top: J. Crew  /  Skirt: H&M  /  Jacket: Max Studio  /  Heels: Franco Sarto  /  Bag: DKNY  /  Jewels: Stella & Dot + Michael Kors  /  Sunglasses: Madewell  /  Lipstick: NARS "Heat Wave"

Last week I had a few computer problems. At first, I thought it was the end of the world, but I realized relaxation and no technology was just what the doctor ordered. I got to spend time with friends, walk around Pittsburgh, and had some yummy fro-yo. Although no technology was nice, it's glad to be back with a working computer and some outfit photos for you all this week.

September 13th cannot come sooner. I am totally anticipating the new collaboration between 3.1 Phillip Lim and Target. These are just a few pieces I love from the collection. Gold, blue, and black shades are perfect for fall, and I am especially craving the sleek lines and art prints. You might see me at Target the morning of September 13th, shopping until I'm dropping.

My favorite items in my closet are the ones I can wear over and over again, but styled many different ways. I found myself wearing this black skirt quite often this weekend and wanted to show you how I wear it in four different looks. Whether I am headed to a girls' lunch or evening affair, or feel like dressing preppy or edgy, a plain black skirt is definitely a wardrobe staple in my closet.

Jacket: American Eagle  /  Shirt: American Eagle  /  Skirt: H&M  /   Shoes: Falchi  /  Jewelry: c/o American Eagle  /  Belt: American Eagle  /  Bag: Emma Fox  /  Lipstick: NARS "Dolce Vita"  /  Sunglasses: Madewell

1. A flirty skirt, denim jacket, and fun wedges are perfect items for a lunch with your best girlfriends. Don't be afraid to mix prints, especially plaid and leopard for a cool vibe.

Jacket: American Eagle  /  Shirt: American Eagle  /  Skirt: H&M  /  Shoes: Dolce Vita  /  Jewelry: Urban Outfitters, AE, Kate Spade  /  Bag: DKNY  /  Lipstick: Clinique "Heftiest Hibiscus"  /  Sunglasses: American Eagle

2. I like to keep my hands free when I am running errands and off to classes. Grab your black skirt, favorite satchel, and colorful loafers for an easy, yet chic, look.

Top: Forever 21  /  Vest: c/o American Eagle  /  Skirt: H&M  /  Shoes: American Eagle  /  Hat: Target  /  Bag: DKNY  /  Lipstick: NARS "Heat Wave"  /  Sunglasses: DKNY

3. Who says you can't be casual in a skirt? For a day of walking around the city, opt for your favorite black skirt paired with sneakers and a baseball hat. Add a bold red lip for fun.

Jacket: c/o American Eagle  /  Dress (worn as shirt): unknown brand  /  Skirt: H&M  /  Shoes: Target  /  Jewelry: H&M  /  Clutch: Banana Republic  /  Lipstick: NARS "Funny Face"  /  Sunglasses: Dolce & Gabbana

4. Bring on the sequins and leather for an evening affair. For a dressy occasion, play with some texture and a fun sequin tank or sweater to go with your little black skirt... and don't forget the heels!

Shirt: Nicole Richie for Impulse  /  Dress (worn as skirt): unknown brand  /  Heels: Asos  /  Necklace: Urban Outfitters  /  Lipstick: NARS "Funny Face"  /  Sunglasses: Madewell

When I am wearing an all black outfit, I like to incorporate some funky shoes and jewelry into the mix. You can never go wrong with a chunky necklace or bold clutch. How do you spice up a simple black look?
